Yes I love Twitter, but I hate filtering out all the “Make Money”, “Get Rich Quick”, Web Guru’s and all the other spam filled Twitter accounts! I would rather spend my time chatting away with people and just enjoying Twitter the way it was meant to be.
I think I do a pretty good job at it, one of my main Twitter accounts NYPDretCOP follows almost four thousand fellow Tweeters and also has about the same number of followers. The best part is I have gotten rid of about 99% of the above mentioned Twitter Spammers and am finding new people to follow every day that have close to the same interests as myself to keep the good conversation flowing!
First I run filters to weed out any Tweeter who Tweets or mentions things in their Twitter profile like “make money” “SEO” “marketing” and many other key words.
Also I check that they do not have specific key words as part of their Twitter user name.
So now if any of the filters find any of the above that person will never be followed!
Now I also have search filters set up to find other like minded people to Tweet with. These filters look for key words that I have set up such as #tcot #tlot and a few more and add people to my friends list for me, but only if they pass all the above filters! The same goes for people that add me to their friends list, they are automatically followed back only if they pass the filters I have set up. Priceless!
Of course we also have to unfolow fellow Tweeters also. We have our account set up to automatically unfollow people who do not follow us back within a few days and also unfollow people who unfollow us.
When managing multiple Twitter accounts or even just one busy account these filters soon become a super time saver!
The only thing that I wish the filters would do is filter out all the Crazy Liberals! Oh well nothing is perfect I guess!
